This exceptional Chinese Peking rug captures the vibrant aesthetic of the early 20th century, utilizing a highly saturated coral field contrasted sharply with a soft, celadon-toned border. This piece exemplifies the finest traditions of antique rugs from the Republican era, showcasing the refined weaving techniques of the period.

The expansive field is dominated by a deep, luminous hue, often described as a vibrant coral, which provides a dramatic backdrop for the scattered, delicate motifs. The use of this specific, warm shade elevates the piece, making it a spectacular example of coral color rugs that define the period's luxury palette.

Traditional Chinese symbolism is rendered with sophisticated precision throughout the design, featuring vases overflowing with flowering branches, stylized butterflies, and symbolic ribbon knots. The border, framed in deep indigo, features a continuous vine of complementary blossoms against the pale sage ground, providing structural balance to the effusive central design.

Woven with a luxurious pile and exhibiting the characteristic sheen of high-quality Peking wool, this piece is designed to command attention in a grand setting. Its substantial dimensions classify it among the most desirable room size rugs, offering an unparalleled foundation for a sophisticated interior design scheme. See less
