This magnificent example of Chinese Art Deco weaving represents the height of the Peking style during the Republican Era. Its generous dimensions classify it among the most sought-after room size rugs available from this period.

The dramatic field is rendered in a saturated, deep navy, providing a sophisticated backdrop characteristic of the finest blue color rugs. This expansive canvas is interrupted only by a delicate central medallion depicting a stylized horse amidst flowering branches, executed entirely in shimmering gold and yellow tones.

A bold, wide border in rich saffron and gold frames the composition, establishing a powerful contrast. The border is densely populated with traditional Chinese motifs, including detailed floral sprays, vases, and symbolic objects, rendered with a fluid, naturalistic hand typical of early 20th-century weaving.

Woven from high-quality wool, this piece exhibits exceptional pile density and enduring color saturation, hallmarks of fine Chinese craftsmanship. Such pieces are prized additions to collections of antique rugs, offering both historical resonance and unparalleled decorative impact for contemporary interiors. See less
