This vintage brass sleeping cat figurine presents a serene, curled silhouette, with a rounded, smoothly domed body that sweeps into a long tail wrapped around the haunches. Cast in solid brass, the figure rests with its head lowered onto crossed forepaws, its closed, softly almond-shaped eyes and finely incised whisker lines giving the face a peaceful, contented expression. The ears are upright and sharply pointed, with hollowed interiors that catch the light, while the muzzle and brow are modeled with gentle, sculptural precision. The back and flanks are left largely smooth, allowing broad planes of burnished metal to reflect the light in warm, liquid highlights. The brass has developed a mellow, honeyed patina, deepening to bronze and smoky brown in the recesses around the ears, face, and tail, with light tarnishing and small scuffs adding depth and a sense of age. A flat, well-finished underside gives the figure a stable, weighty presence on any surface. Quietly sculptural, understated, and full of feline calm, the piece reads as both a tactile paperweight and a charming decorative accent.
Place this cat on a desk, bookshelf, mantel, console, or coffee table, or tuck it beside a stack of books or a lamp as a small, characterful accent. It complements Traditional, Hollywood Regency, Mid-Century Modern, Eclectic, and Grandmillennial interiors. To care for it, dust with a soft dry cloth, buff gently with a dry microfiber cloth, and avoid abrasive polishes and moisture if you wish to preserve the patina; use a brass polish sparingly for a brighter finish. The figurine measures 7.75 inches (197 mm) wide, 5 inches (127 mm) deep, and 3.75 inches (95 mm) high. Condition is very good, with a warm, natural patina, minor surface scuffs, light tarnishing, and a structurally sound build. Add this charming piece to your collection today.
