"Medici Cup" Wall Sconce, Gilded Wood, 20th Century - Spain
A very beautiful gilded wooden wall sconce. Its base is a Medici-style vase from which elegant hangings are suspended. from the vase emerge floral decorations: palm leaves, pomegranates – a symbol of abundance – and flowers. The sconce resembles the architectural details of altarpieces, likely drawing inspiration from them. It is a piece capable of decorating any corner and adding an original touch to a simple interior. There is some loss of gilding in several areas, revealing the bowl and wood underneath. The wood is in good condition.
