The hand-carved motif of this painted center table is in the style of Louis XVI, which saw a rejuvenation of interest in classical architecture. Notice the four slender legs, in the form of tapering columns, and the apron adorned with foliate rinceaux, both examples of the Neoclassical themes associated with this period. Topped by a white marble with gray veining, a thin beveled edge, and a protrusion above each leg.
