A charming pair of handmade Italian Christmas decorations dating to the 1950s, featuring nostalgic Father Christmas illustrations, dimensional faux snow and narrow wood frames with gold-tone trim. Discovered in a small shop in Florence, Italy, these midcentury holiday pieces capture the warmth and whimsy of an old-fashioned European Christmas.
Each framed composition features Father Christmas carrying a snow-covered evergreen alongside a child dressed in winter clothing. One depicts a red-robed Santa with a young boy in a brown coat and red scarf, while the other pairs a cream-robed Santa with a young girl dressed in rich teal blue. Generous layers of fluffy white faux snow create a dimensional, almost storybook quality against the printed illustrations.
The complementary pieces retain their hanging hardware and make a lovely pairing for a holiday mantel, entryway or collected Christmas gallery wall. Their combination of midcentury Italian craftsmanship and Victorian-inspired imagery gives them a distinctive vintage character.
The boy measures approximately 10.25” tall, 7.375” wide and 0.5” deep. The girl measures approximately 10” tall, 6.75” wide and 0.375” deep.
In good preloved vintage condition with age-related scuffs and finish wear to the frames, along with natural irregularities in the dimensional faux snow.
Sold as a pair.
