Executed in the French Empire/Directoire Revival style, this piece embodies quiet luxury, balancing an elegant shaft with a dramatic paw foot base. The central column showcases urn and fluted motifs while the plinth base features robustly sculpted animal paw feet with elaborate, upturned foliate detail. The top is crowned with an intricate acorn and acanthus leaf finial atop a dual pull chain socket cluster.

The lamp displays fine hand-chasing work and meticulous skill. It has developed a rich, warm patina over time revealing an authentic ghost seam along the smooth column - a textbook marker of genuine, high-tier casting. In addition, the fluted ornaments along the shaft and the original finial present incredibly crisp detail.

The lamp is paired with a highly collectible, midcentury hexagonal parchment lampshade by P.H. Gonner, featuring bird and botanical panels bordered in gold. The shade diffuses an inviting, ambient glow that enhances the depth of the antique bronze and brings warmth to a room.

Likely a commissioned piece, this lamp exhibits all the hallmarks of the work of an early 20th century master foundry. It has been professionally rewired including socket and chain replacements. See less
