This charming small vintage Tuareg mat, handmade in Mauritania, is built from rows of fine, pale reed stems bound together with tight lines of thread, creating a delicately ribbed surface in warm straw and honey tones. Four small diamond motifs, each made of tiny stitched blocks in teal, mustard, and rose, float across the field alongside short dotted lines in the same palette. Vertical bands of dyed cord in teal, mustard, burgundy, and rose run the full length of the mat, with a row of small stitched triangles along the top and bottom edges and dark leather trim framing the sides. The compact size and soft, mellowed colors give it a light, easy-to-place presence.
