This rare vintage Tuareg mat, handmade in Mauritania, is built from rows of fine, golden reed stems bound together with tight lines of dark thread, creating a delicately ribbed surface that glows warm honey and straw in the light. Twelve stepped diamond motifs in red, black, and gold are arranged in an open grid across the field, each one assembled from tiny stitched accents. Between them, slim vertical stripes of twisted and braided cord in red, black, and gold run the full length of the mat, dividing the composition into calm, even columns. Dark leather edging frames the piece, softened and worn by age.
