This is a substantial chair with wonderful period construction and … Read more Beautiful antique American wicker armchair, Bar Harbor style, circa 1910s-1920s. This is a substantial chair with wonderful period construction and character. Features include a tall, diamond-lattice wicker back, wide woven arms, decorative braided wicker trim, a side pocket for reading material, and a substantial woven front apron.
Especially interesting is the construction beneath the cushion: the chair retains an unusual suspended metal spring seat, consisting of an interwoven metal platform supported by numerous individual coil springs around the perimeter. The chair also has heavy cross-bracing underneath. The original finish has been touched up with black spray paint with a satin finish and the cushions are new, covered with Sunbrella outdoor fabric in a khaki solid color.
The construction and design are similar to period wicker by prominent American manufacturer
such as Heywood-Wakefield, although no maker's label has been found so it cannot be attributed definitively to said manufacturer.

Measurements are 36" high, 33" wide with arms 31" long and 5" wide. Seat depth is 27" and 23" wide. Seat cushions included, pillows and other props are not. See less
