This exceptional example of antique rugs captures the transitional design spirit of the early 20th century. Its bold, saturated field color provides a dramatic backdrop for the stylized Chinoiserie motifs popular during the Art Deco era.

The luxurious wool pile is dyed a striking shade of deep red, a hue that shifts beautifully under light, ranging from rich scarlet to deep crimson. This vibrant red color is perfectly balanced by the sparse, yet intricately detailed, corner decorations featuring flowering branches, flying swallows, and hanging lanterns.

Unlike traditional Oriental carpets, this piece utilizes negative space to amplify the impact of the design elements. The composition is highly asymmetrical, employing clean lines and stylized forms characteristic of the modernist rugs movement. The use of deep indigo, gold, and jade green accents against the main field demonstrates sophisticated color theory.

Measuring generously, this piece is classified as a true room size rug, making it an ideal anchor for a large living space or formal dining room. Its enduring quality and unique aesthetic make it a compelling decorative statement, bridging Eastern artistry with Western Art Deco glamour, perfect for discerning collectors. See less
