Painted in oil on board, the Virgin is presented frontally as a commanding standalone sacred figure, crowned and surrounded by a radiant halo beneath elegantly draped curtains. She holds symbolic devotional elements including a lit candle, while abundant floral decoration contributes colour, richness and visual depth to the composition. The elaborate garments, jewel-like detailing and strongly symmetrical arrangement are characteristic of the Cuzco School tradition, which developed in Peru through the interaction of European Catholic iconography and indigenous Andean artistic traditions.
