These impressive fireplaces display the elegant proportions and distinctive decorative character associated with british art nouveau design of the early 20th century. Their unusually tall form gives the pair considerable architectural presence, making them particularly suitable for a substantial period restoration or an interior requiring matching historic fireplaces. Authentic registration numbers date both fireplaces to 1906, firmly placing them within the edwardian period and providing an important historical reference. Particularly desirable is their remarkable completeness. Both fireplaces retain their original canopies, front bars, ashpan covers and grates, preserving the integrity of the original combination designs. The original fixing lugs are also present on both examples. The fireplaces are currently painted white and are offered in unrestored condition exactly as shown. Their untouched state provides an excellent opportunity for sympathetic restoration, allowing the purchaser to retain the existing painted appearance or strip and refinish the cast iron according to the requirements of the intended interior. Finding two matching period combination fireplaces of this scale, age and completeness is increasingly uncommon, making the pair particularly appealing for the restoration of a property requiring corresponding fireplaces in adjoining rooms. The listed price is for both fireplaces, which are offered together as a pair.
