The centrepiece is a large, heavy-gauge double-cased opaline milk glass schoolhouse shade, approximately 7 mm thick, with the softly rounded architectural profile characteristic of institutional and Modernist lighting of the period. The opaline glass provides beautifully diffused illumination, producing a warm, even glow when lit. The shade is complemented by its original chrome-plated metal fittings, including a substantial ventilated gallery with original locking bolts, an E27 Edison screw-fit bulb holder and a heavy articulated central suspension column. Above is a decorative Art Deco ceiling plate that completes the strong vertical architectural profile. Weighing approximately 12 lb (5.4 kg), this is a notably substantial period fixture with excellent visual presence. Its restrained combination of white opaline glass and chrome makes it particularly versatile for both period and contemporary interiors, including kitchens, entrance halls, dining rooms, cafés, studios and commercial spaces. The fixture has been professionally rewired using period-appropriate three-core 0.75 mm fabric-braided cable, earthed, tested and is in working order.
