Dating from circa the 1960s–1970s, the work is finely executed with a subtle and harmonious use of colour. The barges and surrounding riverscape are rendered with careful attention to detail, while the delicate handling of the watercolour medium creates a pleasing sense of light, distance and atmosphere.
