The substantial lamp is crafted primarily from silver-plated white metal and arranged around a tall central standard with three gracefully projecting light branches. Its balanced architectural form and finely worked period detailing create an imposing decorative presence, standing approximately 90 cm high. The three-light configuration follows the classic french bouillotte tradition, a form originally developed for table and salon lighting and subsequently becoming an important element of sophisticated 19th-century french interiors. The antique silvered finish has developed an attractive aged appearance, emphasizing the relief and modelling of the metalwork. At approximately 58 cm across, the lamp has considerable scale and would make an excellent statement piece for a large console, centre table, library or formal drawing room. An unusual surviving example of french second empire lighting with strong decorative and architectural appeal.
