Standing approximately 60 cm tall and weighing 10.7 lb, the lamp has considerable presence. The sculptural bronze composition rises from a substantial black marble plinth, with the underside finished in green wool-mix baize. The bronze figure is modelled with multiple levels of decorative detailing and incorporates a tall flagstaff-form support, cleverly integrated into the lighting structure. At its summit is the original ventilated bakelite gallery with locking bolts and a period bronze b22 bayonet-fit bulb holder. The most distinctive feature is the original 1920s hand-made marbled glass globe, formed in an unusual flying-saucer or saturn-inspired profile with pronounced concentric rings. Its strongly geometric silhouette is quintessentially art deco, while the marbled glass produces a warm and atmospheric glow when illuminated. Further period details include an original 1920s crabtree brown bakelite three-round-pin plug and an original carter bakelite inline switch, adding to the lamp's period character. The lamp has been professionally rewired with period-appropriate three-core silk-braided twisted cable, earthed, tested and presented in working order. A particularly striking example of interwar decorative lighting, combining sculpture, architecture and geometric art deco glasswork in a single statement piece. Material bronze, black marble, hand-made marbled glass, bakelite and silk-braided cable measurements displayed in photos.
