This exceptional early 20th-century piece captures the sophisticated elegance of the Peking style, characterized by its open composition and harmonious palette. The expansive field is rendered in a soft, dusty shade of blue color rugs, providing a serene backdrop for the detailed iconography that defines this period of Chinese weaving.

The design features a delicate scattering of auspicious motifs, including stylized vases overflowing with blossoms, fluttering butterflies, and symbolic lanterns. These elements are arranged around a bold central circular medallion rendered in contrasting cream and gold tones. Its generous dimensions make it an ideal room size rug for a formal dining area or grand salon, offering immediate visual impact without overwhelming the space.

Hand-knotted using high-quality wool pile, the texture of this piece retains a luxurious, subtle sheen indicative of its age and careful preservation. The artistry is evident in the precise delineation of the motifs, which utilize a restrained palette of cream, deep indigo, and ochre against the primary cerulean field, showcasing the master weaver's skill.

A geometric fretwork border, executed in deep navy and cream, frames the composition, providing a necessary structural anchor to the otherwise airy field. This piece represents a superb example of early Republican-era Chinese weaving, offering both historical integrity and timeless decorative appeal for collectors seeking exceptional antique rugs.
