the sconce has two barovier & toso labels. A red-and-white monogram label reading “barovier & toso murano venezia” is on the glass stem. A factory label marked “terra / earth / erde” is on the back of the wall plate. Specialist label references associate the “murano venezia” wording with the 1970s and early 1980s.

diagonal ribs run out from a raised central vein, and the gold collects most densely along that spine before scattering toward the edges. Below the leaf, the stem continues as a solid glass rod cut at an angle and gripped by a triple-ringed brass collar on a round backplate. Lit from behind, the glass turns a warm amber-gold and haloes the wall around it. Leaves, fronds and petals recur throughout barovier & toso lighting, a house that traces its glassmaking on murano to the middle ages and grew, under ercole barovier’s decades of artistic direction, into one of the island’s most inventive.

the brass shows age-appropriate wear and tarnish, most visibly on the collar, with a small spot of corrosion near a mounting stud on the wall plate. The painted socket cup shows scratches. This piece has an attribution mark,
