Constructed from substantial solid cast iron, the fireplace displays beautifully defined decorative detailing and the strong architectural presence characteristic of Coalbrookdale production. The fireplace has undergone a comprehensive professional refurbishment. The cast iron was carefully stripped and cleaned to remove accumulated surface coatings while preserving the definition and integrity of the original casting. Following preparation, the surface was given a protective treatment before being finished and polished using traditional black grate polish. This process beautifully highlights the crisp relief decoration and gives the cast iron an attractive deep metallic appearance while retaining the natural character and patina of the piece. The fireplace remains in excellent condition, with the solid cast iron construction retaining an appealing aged surface that complements its Edwardian character. As a combination fireplace, the surround and fire opening form an integrated architectural composition, creating a substantial focal point ideally suited to a period drawing room, reception room, bedroom or other traditional interior. A particularly attractive example of British architectural ironwork, combining the renowned Coalbrookdale name with authentic Edwardian design, solid construction and a professionally restored finish. approx. measurements: height 1200mm(47.25") mantel width 925mm(36.5") width at feet 720mm(28.25") opening height 610mm(24") opening width 380mm(15") See less
