This exceptional example of Chinese Art Deco weaving captures the transitional aesthetic of the period, blending traditional Far Eastern iconography with the bold color saturation demanded by the roaring twenties. Its substantial dimensions qualify it as a true room size rug, ideal for anchoring a grand interior space with historical elegance.

The luxurious, deep red field is a stunning example of the era's preference for dramatic hues, offering a rich saturation rarely seen in older antique rugs. This specific shade of crimson red creates a striking contrast against the wide, verdant teal border and the fine gold inner guard stripe, elevating the overall visual impact of the composition.

The open field is populated by delicate, asymmetrical sprays of blossoms emanating from stylized vases and censers, rendered in soft pinks, oranges, and greens. A subtle, stylized creature—resembling a bat or a small bird—floats gracefully near the center, aligning with the traditional symbolism found in many bird rugs and adding an element of auspicious charm.

Woven from high-quality wool, the pile retains a wonderful sheen that deepens the intensity of the central color. This vibrant red falls into the highly sought-after category of red color rugs, providing a sophisticated foundation for both period and contemporary design schemes. See less
