Set on a rich, deep indigo-blue field, the design features elegant cranes gathered within a serene waterscape, accompanied by soft floral elements and delicate vegetation. A single crane in flight above completes the composition, adding movement and harmony to the scene. In Chinese culture, cranes symbolize longevity, peace, and spiritual elevation, making this rug both visually striking and deeply meaningful.

The composition reflects the classic aesthetic of Peking rugs, where open space and carefully placed motifs create a sense of balance and tranquility. The soft contrast between the luminous ivory tones and the saturated blue background enhances the clarity and elegance of the design.

Hand-knotted in wool, the rug offers a soft pile and durable structure. Areas of visible age-related wear, particularly within parts of the central motif, are consistent with its late 19th-century origin and contribute to its authentic antique character without diminishing its decorative appeal.
