Built from solid oak with the straightforward, practical joinery and generous proportions of provincial Belgian furniture making, this piece features a pair of smooth-running drawers above a double-door cabinet with clean, simply molded panel detailing — functional, unfussy, and all the more beautiful for it. The warm oak has developed a lovely mellowed patina over more than a century of farmhouse use, the timber rich with the natural grain variation and honeyed tones that only genuine aged oak possesses. Free of the elaborate carving and decorative excess of its more formal contemporaries, this farmer's dresser possesses a quiet, grounded dignity and a timeless versatility that makes it equally at home in a country kitchen, a rustic dining room, a relaxed hallway, or a cozy bedroom. Sourced from Belgium, an utterly charming and deeply liveable piece of 19th century Belgian provincial furniture. See less
