This exceptional antique piece from the early 20th century exemplifies the refined aesthetic of Peking weaving, characterized by its striking color contrast and spacious design philosophy.

The central field is dominated by a rich, saturated navy, providing a dramatic backdrop for the delicate ornamentation. This deep indigo hue is characteristic of the finest blue color rugs produced during the Republican period, offering a sense of depth and tranquility that grounds any room setting.

Sparse yet elegant floral sprays, rendered in shimmering gold and tan tones, float across the expansive field. These stylized motifs, often associated with longevity and prosperity in Chinese iconography, replace the dense, all-over patterns common in earlier periods, lending the composition a distinctly modern sensibility.

The impressive scale of this piece makes it a commanding architectural element, perfectly suited for grand interiors requiring a large oversized rug. Framed by a complex border featuring alternating floral vines and circular medallions, this rug is a magnificent and well-preserved example of Chinese textile artistry. See less
