This beautiful vase features the classic Double-Gourd (Hulu) silhouette, characterized by its two stacked, rounded sections. In Chinese culture, the gourd is a powerful symbol of good fortune, health, and prosperity (as the word "hulu" sounds similar to "Fulu," meaning blessings and wealth).
The vase is finished in a soft, pale yellow glaze. The lower section is exquisitely decorated with a raised (applied / relief-carved) white plum blossom (Prunus) branch. The three-dimensional white blossoms and textured branches stand out beautifully against the warm yellow background, creating a refined, tactile quality. Plum blossoms are highly revered in Asian art for their resilience, blooming in the harsh winter to herald the arrival of spring.
