Description: Copied from an English antique circa 1780 found in the Colonial Williamsburg Collection. "Fend-irons" were used to hold back burning embers during the 18th century. Early examples were made of iron hence the name. Licensed by Colonial Williamsburg, this fender featuers a serpentine shape with intricately pierced brass and a scalloped edge.
