Store Item: Pair of KARGES Hepplewhite Plum Arm Chairs Ebonized, Carved Hand Painted Leather Fabric
Description: Inspired by the Neoclassical furniture designs of English Cabinet Maker George Hepplewhite, this chair is distinguished by the artistic Prince of Wales feather, hand painted by Karges artisans. The spade foot and detail of the arm are hand carved for crispness and purity of design. The chair is an important Karges archive introduced originally to honor Thelma Beck Karges, the beloved wife of Edwin Karges Jr.. The chairs were custom ordered and hand painted over a black ebonized lacquered background. Upholstered in a cream leather. Extremely high end construction. Karges furniture is considered one of the finest furniture makers in the world and extremely expensive.
Condition Report: Good condition with some wear, scuffs and scratches as expected with usage. Some loss to veneer on the backsplat and feathers. Fabric in very good condition. True showpiece chairs.
