Upholstered in rich, cognac-brown leather, this generously scaled Churchill has the sort of lived-in character that simply cannot be ordered overnight.

Deeply cushioned, with a button-tufted back, beautifully rolled arms, and antique-style nail-head trim, it brings old-world club-room appeal without the slightest need to prove its credentials.

The leather’s natural creasing and evolving patina are part of the pleasure. This is not a chair aspiring to look untouched; it has considerably more interesting things to do. Think fireside reading, a very good drink and/or a very good think, or the sort of afternoon that renders your to-do list entirely irrelevant.

Handsome, unapologetically comfortable, and possessing the quiet authority of someone who has already made the reservation. Productivity is optional. Looking exceptionally well settled is not. See less
