This exceptional piece captures the transitional design sensibilities of the Jazz Age, blending the geometric precision of Art Deco with traditional Chinoiserie motifs. It is a stunning example of antique rugs that define the early 20th-century shift in decorative arts.

The deep, saturated field of wool provides a dramatic canvas for the intricate border. The sophisticated use of a true black color rugs ground allows the vibrant palette of blues, reds, and creams in the design elements to achieve maximum visual impact, a hallmark of refined early 20th-century weaving that sought contrast and depth.

The unusual oval form is framed by a lush, continuous border depicting winding floral vines interspersed with stylized birds, likely pheasants, rendered in exquisite detail. A complementary central medallion echoes these naturalistic elements, providing a focal point that softens the geometric austerity typical of some Art Deco compositions.

Woven with a fine, dense wool pile, this piece is presented in a highly desirable small scatter size. Its unique oval shape and luxurious texture make it perfectly suited for placement in an entryway, beside a statement chair, or as a sophisticated accent rug within a highly curated, refined interior.
