This exquisite piece showcases the restrained elegance typical of early 20th-century Chinese weaving. The deep, saturated field of jade provides a stunning backdrop for the delicate motifs, highlighting the exceptional quality inherent in these antique rugs.

The composition is characterized by its open, asymmetrical layout, allowing the rich, hand-knotted pile texture to dominate. Clusters of blossoms, rendered in soft pinks, corals, and pale yellows, float across the expansive field. This use of naturalistic floral rugs reflects a sophisticated departure from traditional medallion structures, favoring spaciousness and light.

The masterful deployment of the primary color, a muted yet vibrant teal, defines the rug's aesthetic appeal. This specific shade of green color rugs was highly favored during the period for its calming and luxurious effect. Small, charming details, such as the single butterfly rendered in silk-like highlights, add subtle movement and life to the otherwise minimalist design.

Though possessing the visual impact of a larger carpet, this piece is rendered in a highly versatile small scatter size format (2.02ft x 6ft). Its durable wool construction and timeless design ensure it remains a compelling addition to both modern and classically appointed interiors, offering a century of history underfoot. See less
