The cabinet features a central drop-down section providing practical concealed storage, accompanied by a single drawer. Both retain their original brass handles and fittings, complementing the warm golden tones of the satinwood while preserving the authentic character of the piece. Fine ebony stringing is incorporated throughout the design, creating a sophisticated contrast against the lighter satinwood and emphasising the cabinet's carefully considered architectural lines. A raised gallery back provides an elegant finishing detail to the upper surface, while the cabinet is supported upon slender tapered legs that give the piece a graceful and beautifully balanced silhouette. Particularly noteworthy is the satinwood itself, displaying pronounced natural figuring and an attractive golden colour throughout. The combination of richly figured timber and contrasting ebony inlay gives the cabinet considerable decorative presence despite its compact proportions. Presented in very good antique condition, with appropriate signs of age and use consistent with its early 20th-century origin. At just 50.5 cm wide, this is a particularly versatile piece suitable as a side cabinet, bedside cabinet, occasional cabinet or decorative accent within both traditional and contemporary interiors.
