The basket is beautifully proportioned with a finely hand-pierced border incorporating symmetrical stylised motifs. The intricate openwork creates an attractive sense of lightness while complementing the polished sterling silver surface. A gracefully articulated swing handle rises above the basket, allowing the piece to be carried or positioned elegantly for display. The body is raised upon a circular stepped pedestal base with a wrapped-over construction, a traditional strengthening technique providing additional rigidity and stability. Fully hallmarked for sheffield 1913 and crafted entirely in sterling silver, the basket has a net silver weight of approximately 130.9 grams. Presented in very good antique condition with no noted damage, bruises, splits or repairs.
