The substantial hand-painted opaline milk glass shade has a strongly stepped, geometric profile terminating in a convex lower section. Its dramatic architectural silhouette reflects the influence of Streamline Moderne and skyscraper design upon decorative lighting of the late Art Deco period.

When illuminated, the opaline glass softly diffuses the light while emphasising the shade's sculptural form and painted detailing.

The shade is suspended from an original pressed bronze pyramidal gallery, complete with locking bolts and substantial open hanging hook.

Above, an original heavy close-link bronze chain rises to a period bronze ceiling plate with its original hanging arrangement.

Period internal fittings include the original brass B22 bayonet bulb holder, while the fixture has been professionally rewired in period-appropriate three-core fabric-braided cable, tested and presented in working order.

The light may be operated from a conventional wall switch or its independent pull-cord mechanism.
