The generously proportioned top showcases particularly attractive natural figuring, with the oak displaying a rich golden colour and wonderfully established patina developed through generations of use. The table incorporates a traditional tilt-top mechanism, allowing the top to be raised into a vertical position when not required. This ingenious feature was characteristic of Georgian occasional furniture, allowing tables to occupy considerably less floor space when stored while also displaying the timber prominently. The top is supported by an elegant central pedestal terminating in a well-balanced tripod base. Beautifully shaped and turned elements provide both visual interest and structural stability, creating a graceful silhouette from every angle. Measuring approximately 81.5 cm wide, the table offers a useful surface while retaining the versatility associated with Georgian tilt-top furniture.
