Inspired … Read more A striking architectural dragon finial, dramatically modelled with an arched, scaled body, raised wings and an expressive open-mouthed head. Inspired by traditional Gothic architectural ornament, the sculpture has a wonderfully theatrical character reminiscent of the dragons and grotesques found on historic European buildings. Hand-cast in frost-resistant reconstituted stone and finished in an aged terracotta tone, the surface has been designed to develop the appearance and character of an older architectural element. Detailed scales, claws, wings and facial features give the dragon considerable sculptural presence. The integral angled ridge tile is designed for a pitched roof, making the piece ideal as an architectural roof ornament or decorative finial. Equally, its sculptural quality allows it to be displayed independently as an unusual garden ornament or architectural decorative object.
