Painted in oil on board, the composition is characterised by expressive, substantial brushwork and areas of thickly applied paint, giving the flowers considerable texture and depth. The artist employs a subtle yet lively palette, with the blue vessel providing a strong visual anchor beneath the softer tones of the floral arrangement. The work is signed, although the signature is presently indistinct and the artist has not been identified. Information recorded on the reverse indicates that the painting was given as a wedding present in 1920, providing useful period provenance and supporting an early 20th-century date. The painting is presented within a decorative gilded frame displaying some age-related distressing and wear. The artwork itself remains in good antique condition, with signs of age consistent with its period. An attractive and highly decorative floral still life with an appealing Impressionist character, suitable for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
