The sculpture beautifully conveys the speed, agility and distinctive character of the animal. Finely modelled fur, long alert ears and an expressive face contrast with the sweeping lines of the body, creating a particularly convincing sense of movement. The hare is supported discreetly from its forelegs upon an integral naturalistic bronze base, enhancing the impression that it is bounding through the landscape. Hot-cast in genuine molten bronze and finished with a rich dark brown patina, the sculpture has a substantial weight of approximately 11.4 kg and is suitable for both interior and exterior display. At an impressive 90 cm long, this bronze makes a striking feature within a garden, amongst planting or alongside a pathway, where its energetic pose appears particularly natural. It would equally make an unusual sculptural focal point within a country house or contemporary interior.
