The chair features an elaborate sculptural design inspired by traditional Indian ceremonial furniture, with a dramatic backrest formed by two opposing stylised peacocks. Their sweeping tails and finely detailed plumage create an impressive decorative crest, densely embellished with geometric and foliate inlay. The broad armrests terminate in beautifully carved animal-head forms, while the open sides are constructed with gracefully curved supports enriched with repeating inlaid patterns. The square seat is particularly decorative, centred by an intricate circular medallion surrounded by floral, foliate and geometric motifs. Further inlaid decoration continues across the crossed lower supports and legs, creating a remarkably cohesive design from every angle. The combination of sculptural carving, elaborate peacock imagery and extensive hand-applied inlay gives the chair a commanding presence and makes it as much a piece of decorative art as functional furniture. Material: Indian rosewood with decorative white inlay. Measurements: Overall Height approximately 91.4 cm (36 in), Seat Height approximately 45.7 cm (18 in), Width approximately 66 cm, Depth approximately 60 cm. See less
