Very well made and of good quality, this elegant bureau displays the balanced proportions and restrained character associated with Georgian furniture while offering a practical writing surface and substantial storage. The fall-front opens to form a useful writing surface and reveals a beautifully fitted interior, thoughtfully arranged with an assortment of small drawers and compartments. This provides convenient organisation for stationery, correspondence, documents and other writing essentials. Beneath the writing section are three generously sized drawers, providing excellent additional storage. All retain their original handles and fittings, preserving the authentic character and traditional appearance of the bureau. The bureau stands on traditional ogee bracket feet, an elegant architectural detail that complements the clean lines of the cabinet and completes its classic Georgian appearance. The mahogany has matured beautifully, displaying attractive natural grain, rich warm colouring and considerable depth of character throughout.
