A wrought iron Speckkrone, or kitchen crown, dating to the late 18th century. The circular ring is fitted with multiple hooks and is decorated with cut-out bird silhouettes and spiral applications. Arched iron supports rise from the ring to a central hanging rod, which terminates in a floral finial.
Originally used as a mouse-proof hanging rack for meat products such as bacon, sausage or game, the crown now serves equally well as a decorative holder for kitchen utensils, herbs, pots or pans. The iron retains its original surface and patina.
The hanging height measures 65 cm and the diameter is 38 cm. The combination of the functional hooks and the ornamental bird and scroll details gives the piece both historical interest and a strong decorative presence.
