Each console is of similar form: a projecting top with a painted green surface, a frieze of scrolling foliage in green and gilt on a red ground, and a small inset mirror panel framed in blue and cream. A gilt shell ornament sits above the mirror, while the lower section is richly carved with layered acanthus leaves and a pendant element banded in red and gilt.
The pieces are of carved wood with polychrome and gilt decoration. Over the centuries they have been supplemented and maintained, as is common with objects of this age and use. The paint and gilding show the wear and losses expected of 18th-century Venetian furniture; the undersides retain areas of older green paint.
Consoles of this type were used in Venetian interiors to support small objects or to form part of a larger decorative scheme. The combination of mirrors, carved foliage and bright polychromy is characteristic of Venetian production in the period.
