This magnificent example of Chinese Art Deco weaving captures the sophisticated aesthetic of the early 20th century. Its construction is characteristic of high-quality antique rugs produced during this period of cultural exchange, blending traditional Eastern iconography with modern Western scale.

The expansive field is rendered in a deep, saturated indigo, providing a dramatic canvas for the stylized motifs. This rich, dark tone is highly sought after in blue color rugs, offering depth and formality to any interior space. The contrast established by the luminous gold and cream accents highlights the meticulous hand-knotting and the luxurious wool pile.

Traditional Chinese iconography is elegantly deployed across the surface. The central medallion and the four surrounding circular reserves feature detailed vignettes of vases, flowering branches, and subtle landscape elements. The wide primary border complements the field with continuous scrolling vines, stylized birds, and auspicious floral sprays, executed in a refined palette of soft blues and golden beige.

With its generous proportions, this piece functions perfectly as a statement among room size rugs, anchoring a major living area or formal dining room. The restrained elegance and durable wool construction ensure that this exceptional textile remains a timeless centerpiece, reflecting the grandeur of its original era. See less
