This is a striking and uniquely designed vintage jewelry or keepsake box, crafted from rosewood (huali wood) with a warm, reddish-brown finish.
The box features a clever double sliding lid mechanism. The top consists of two separate panels that slide open to reveal two deep, rectangular storage compartments below. The entire top surface is lavishly inlaid with iridescent abalone shell (a type of mother-of-pearl), creating a brilliant, mosaic-like pattern that flashes with vibrant hues of green, blue, purple, and gold as the light hits it.
The exterior frame of the box is smooth and unadorned, allowing the stunning natural grain of the rosewood and the dazzling shell inlay to take center stage. This visually captivating piece is perfect for storing jewelry, small trinkets, or keepsakes, and makes a beautiful, functional decorative accent for a vanity or desk.
