The piece is highly detailed, showcasing a traditional decorative technique known as "diaper ground with cartouches" (锦地开光).
The background is covered in a meticulous, creamy geometric scroll pattern, which serves as a canvas for two large, prominent framed panels. Inside these panels are vibrant, hand-painted scenes of exotic birds—appearing to be magpies or pheasants—perched among flowering branches, symbolizing joy and good fortune. The neck and shoulders are heavily decorated with colorful lotus scrolls, peonies, and blue geometric borders. The entire piece is finished with delicate gilded (gold) lines that accentuate its faceted shape and add a luxurious, imperial feel.
