THE STORY BEHIND THIS RUG
This rug was woven by a woman.
Not in a factory. Not by machine. But by hand — on a loom, at home, in a village in Anatolia. Decades ago, Turkish women wove these rugs either to furnish their own homes or to contribute to the family's income. Each pattern was chosen by the weaver herself, each knot tied with her own hands. No two rugs were ever identical, because no two women wove the same way.
We source these rugs directly from old homes and private collectors across Turkey — places where these pieces have rested for 40, 50, sometimes 60 years. When we find one, it begins a journey before it reaches you.
First, we shake out decades of dust. Then we carefully shear the pile — what we call "hav" in Turkish — to bring the surface back to an even, clean finish. The rug is then washed and goes through a series of restoration steps. Finally, the edges are hand-stitched to ensure it arrives in your home structurally sound and ready to use.
What you receive is not just a rug. It is a one-of-a-kind textile that survived decades, was made by someone's hands, and was carefully prepared to live another chapter — in your home.
You will never find another exactly like it.
ABOUT THIS STOCKING
These stockings are handcrafted from the offcuts of our vintage Anatolian rugs — pieces left over when rugs are cut and shaped. Instead of going to waste, each fragment is transformed into a one-of-a-kind Christmas stocking, carrying the same hand-woven wool and natural dye colors as the rug it came from. This piece shows a sage green and mustard star-and-diamond pattern on a warm cream ground, with soft dusty lavender accents typical of Anatolian kilim weaving.
Every piece is unique. No two stockings are alike.
