The vessel is heavily cast and richly decorated, featuring a vibrant cloisonné enamel body in deep turquoise and red, overlaid with elaborate high-relief gold-gilt scrolling vines and mythical beasts.

The censer is supported by three prominent elephant-head legs, and features two large, stylized elephant-head handles on either side. The domed lid is crowned with a sculpted guardian lion (foo dog) finial, resting atop a band of pierced, scrolling gilt work that allows incense smoke to escape. The contrast between the colorful enamel and the bright, antiqued gold highlights makes this a striking decorative object. It is a superb focal point for a curated interior, a bookshelf, or an altar setting.
