A beautifully understated American studio pottery bud vase by Andy Smith, dated 2006. Featuring a sculptural spherical form with a small opening at the top, the piece is finished in a soft ivory-white glaze with delicate charcoal veining characteristic of the Raku firing process.
The organic network of fine crackling creates a striking contrast against the vase’s minimalist silhouette, giving the piece an almost stone-like appearance. A wonderful example of contemporary American studio ceramics, equally suited to a Japanese Wabi-Sabi interior, organic modern setting, or curated collection of sculptural pottery.
