This charming and elegantly modeled figure depicts a young woman seated on a tree stump, wearing a traditional cap, a soft blue belted jacket, and a flowing ivory skirt. Interestingly, the book is painted cobalt-blue, rather than the more commonly seen gray, creating a striking contrast with the figure’s softer blue and ivory tones and making this an especially rare piece.

Founded in Copenhagen in 1853, Bing & Grøndahl became one of Denmark's most prestigious porcelain manufacturers, particularly admired for its finely modeled figurines and distinctive underglaze colors.

Marked on the underside with the B&G Copenhagen Denmark factory hallmark and model number 1938. First-quality example, with no factory cancellation mark through the trademark. Produced 1948-1951.
