Art Deco Aladdin Alacite Uranium Glass Lamp. This lamp dates from 1935-1942 because of the ring of fire that you can see on the edges of all the glass, and the fat boy socket dates to that time. It glows green in the sunlight. It is made of Alacite, a specialized ivory/opal glass developed by Aladdin Industries. This material has a distinctively smooth, creamy, and translucent texture.
It features a classic Art Deco urn silhouette with vertically fluted/ribbed detailing along the body and a decorative footed base.
• The "Uranium Glow" Factor: If this lamp was manufactured between 1938 and 1942, the Alacite formula included uranium oxide. This lamp has a faint green glow in the sunlight as shown in the pictures. Aladdin changed the formula after 1942 due to wartime restrictions on uranium, so post-war lamps don’t glow. The detail on these old lamps makes them very special.
