A handsome late 19th-century British sporting engraving titled The Heythorp Hunt, masterfully engraved by James Scott (1809–1871) after the original oil painting by renowned equestrian artist Stephen Pearce (1819–1904).
This classic English country scene beautifully captures Alexander William Hall, the Master of the Hounds, alongside his wife on horseback, surrounded by an eager pack of hunting hounds before the day's run. The piece features excellent narrative detail, showcasing fine craftsmanship in the rendering of the horses and the textures of the landscape.
Presented under glass in an elegant, substantial black wooden frame with a classic multi-tiered cream and gold matting, this impressive work makes a striking statement piece. It is perfectly suited for traditional interiors, classic libraries, or English country house decor styles.
